So I have a not-so-pleasant experience and rating for the photos app at the moment. The 4th time, the app didn't freeze - but again did not back up anything all night. 3 of the 4 times the app froze and literally did not back up anything all night. I've used the "Supercharged Backup" option 4 times where you leave the app on the screen and it dims the screen so you can leave it on overnight. I don't like how you have to leave the app active on the screen to continue with the backup and the app consistently freezes. I've tried both using my wifi connection and also my carrier's 5G signal and I've only managed to back up roughly 2 to 3 weeks of photos and videos (approx 7.44GB according to the app) Regarding the IDrive photos backup that I purchased on the same day - that too is rather painful and slow. I've had to restart my computer a couple of times (never turning off, but just restarting) and IDrive does a great job of restarting the backup from where it left off which is fantastic. But I do wish the backup process would be completed faster as I think the overall program, process to install, the process to select what to backup, etc - is great. Whether this is a limitation of my internet speed, a hardware limitation or something to do with IDrive - I'm not that technically experienced to diagnose. I'm running a different backup for them and whilst it's also nowhere near the 20MB upload capacity, I'm receiving at least 2 - 3MB via that cloud storage provider which is helping to speed things up. Now to compare - I also purchased a competitor cloud storage on the same day (won't mention the full name, but they do offer a lifetime cloud storage option which is what I purchased). To be fair, my current internet connection has a max upload speed of 20MB (which is fairly standard in Australia) but I'm barely receiving 1MB upload speed at the moment, so for 3TB of data to be backed up, this is taking weeks! I've literally left my computer on since I purchase IDrive on the 27th of December (its now the 9th of Jan) and it's only completed 700+ gigs. So far I've found the backup process to be.
